The Joy of Durga Puja Isn't Equal for Everyone

For Bengal, Durga Puja means new clothes, new happiness and sharing special moments with loved ones. But for many people in our society, that joy is still out of reach.

With a small effort to bring smiles to those faces, Six Star Social Welfare Organisation launched the “Notun Poshake Agomoni” (Welcoming the Festival in New Clothes) programme. Over four phases this Sharodiya season, our volunteers walked from village to village across Bankura district, placing new clothes into the hands of children and elderly people as a gift from the heart.

The Journey, Phase by Phase

Phase 1

Simlapal Block, Bankura

📍 Topubaid · Bhurudanga · Bansakanali villages

The campaign began in the villages of Topubaid, Bhurudanga and Bansakanali under Simlapal police station. Our volunteers handed over new clothes to children and elderly residents. The innocent smiles on the children's faces and the contentment in the elders' eyes were, in our words, our greatest reward.

Phase 2

Simlapal Block, Bankura

📍 Laxmisagar village

In the second phase we reached Laxmisagar village, again under Simlapal police station. Children and elders alike received new clothes as a festive gift, and the response from the community was heartwarming.

“Your small contribution can bring a smile to someone's face. This Sharodiya, let us share happiness and stand beside people.”
Phase 3

Onda Block, Bankura

📍 Gopalpur · Bhulanpur · Lagarbera · Narendra Palli

The third phase took us to Onda police station area, covering the villages of Gopalpur, Bhulanpur, Lagarbera and Narendra Palli. New clothes were presented to children and elderly people, many of whom blessed our volunteers with tearful gratitude.

Phase 4

Taldangra Block, Bankura

📍 Several villages in Taldangra

In the fourth phase, our volunteers visited several villages under Taldangra police station. Children tried on their new shirts and frocks right away, and our team helped them dress, sharing laughter and festive cheer.

And This Is Only the Beginning

Every phase taught us the same lesson: a simple gift of clothing can open the door to dignity, belonging and festive joy. More phases are on the way. We will reach more villages and spread the happiness of the festival among more people.

This effort would never have succeeded without your love, cooperation and willingness to stand beside us. To every well-wisher and kind-hearted supporter, our sincere gratitude. 🙏

Shubho Sharodiya from all of us at Six Star Warriors!
May Maa Durga's blessings fill every life with light, peace and happiness.
